Randy Bruns, CFP® RICP®

Randy Bruns is the founder of Model Wealth and a Senior Financial Planner with the firm. He has served as President of the Financial Planning Association of Illinois (FPA-Illinois), has been a guest lecturer for the University of Illinois’ financial planning program, and writes as a guest contributor for various media outlets.

In 2018, Randy was recognized by InvestmentNews as part of its prestigious “40 Under 40” class of honorees doing remarkable things in the field of financial planning. A year later he’d be recognized by Morningstar Magazine for boosting financial knowledge across America and reshaping how consumers receive financial advice. And later that summer he appeared onstage for Morningstar’s 35th Anniversary Town Hall, explaining why Morningstar is such a wonderful resource to his firm and its investors.

He designed Model Wealth to give consumers a more pure and transparent financial planning experience than the sales-focused environment typical of Wall Street. Randy’s team specializes in hourly-based advice and, when appropriate, packages it with ongoing investment management for a flat annual fee.

Randy has long been a community advocate for financial literacy. He is frequently quoted in the media and is an outspoken proponent in favor of a higher fiduciary standard for the financial services industry.

Randy has worked extensively with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in organizing its Money Smart Week® financial literacy campaign, he’s a crowd favorite speaker for the Chicago Public Library’s “Lunch Money” series of financial talks, and he helps lead a team of financial planners that provide complimentary financial advice to underserved communities across Illinois.

Randy graduated with honors from Millikin University and holds both the CFP® and RICP® designations. He and his wife Natalie reside in Wheaton, Illinois with their daughter Nora, their son Ben, and their two Australian Shepherds, Dash and Daisy.
